Britain's longest tunnel network lies hidden under the Flintshire hills
It's well known among the caving community, but lying beneath Flintshire is what is believed to be Britain's longest network of underground tunnels.

The Halkyn District United Mines extending over 60 miles is made up of a labyrinth of mines, lodes and natural caves over several levels.

(Includes UCET video.)

No doubt United Utilities will be particularly pleased to see their mine workings in glorious colour on the Daily Post's website. Not.

Given they have a legal obligation to keep the place safe and secure, the probable result will unlikely be great for access.

What is it about Facebook that makes people post the most sensitive sites they can do, just to get 'likes'?

Please, people, if you are reading this and are thinking about posting sensitive sites to Facebook, have a think about whether you're happy to be risking access in the future - because that's precisely what you are doing.

Hello again darkness, my old friend...

The video on the link is not the Milwr tunnel trip no, it is the upper HDL a short trip from the portal to the collapse, not very far 1/4 mile or so, did use to be a lot further (1980's) but runs through shale and is badly collapsed & holding back a lot of water now.

The management thanks you for your co operation.

I pity anyone who tries their first 'explore' in HDL.

Last time I went in there the mud / slurry was well over knee deep, and really hard work.

Looks like someone has been doing a bit of work in there, possibly ?

Surely the London Underground network might hold that title? ;D;D

UCET did attempt to start a dig through the collapse 2 ish years ago but we decided that the work required would be more than the club would be willing to commit to. We managed to put a boat in there to help move materials and build 2 harbours, but, nothing more.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
