Hi everybody,
Who do I need to contact to gain permission to visit the site and underground workings? From what I have read it''s been an issue over time as to who has control.
Regards,
Mick Winder.

AFAIK there are no issues at present. There were some moves in the past to control access but these seem to have been abandoned.

One point to note is that the guy whose house is near the access track has complained about people parking vehicles and blocking his trailer. There is a small car park the other side of the main road up a track (almost opposite the road at the side of the Oak pub) which is part of a nature reserve. Park up there as its only two hundred yards away and quite quiet.

If there are a few of us going I usually ring the pub the day before and tell them I'm going to the mine. They will leave the carpark gate unlocked for you if you go and buy half a lager and a packet of crisps when you come out. They are used to people asking and always help.

As said, the only issue is parking. The landlord of the pub is fine if he has forewarning, and a bit of patronage.

If it's just one car, the layby on the road behind the pub is fine.
