Hello all,
Just a quick one. Me and a few lads are headed to penarth the weekend. Have done some prior research and found it isnt to much of a big mine...either way
Does anybody know of any surveys for this mine. Have checked the internet with no avail. Dont sound like we gunna need one but id rather have it if it exists than not.

You obviously havent looked at the letters in front of it John. Might want to stop and think before letting the outrage out.
Mods, can you amend posts as needed?
There is a plan floating about. There was one on Mine Explorer before it was shuttered. I have it somewhere. I'll see if I can find it after work.

I have seen a survey by Dave Baines that looks really good, but AFAIK it is not on the web anywhere and was prepared for his own use. Perhaps if someone has it, and copyright isnt an issue, it might be posted on the relevant page?

I have a copy of the plan on my PC but I'm never sure if we are allowed to post them or not. Some people don't like them being shared because they attract the 'wrong' crowd.
Where is the one on this site? I couldn't find it.

Spent an hour or so in there today real shame about the graffiti, you won’t get too lost there’s lots of “WO <-“ to guide you to the exit then some real bright yellow “EXIT” over where you access and egress the mine.
It may not be very big but it’s chambers are huge also be prepared for the walk up!

The sandy roof bed has acquired a beautiful corrugated form from the imposition of the forces that have made the slaty cleavage in the underlying phyllite. As you say, shame the spray paint muppets have been in 😞

The roof is very impressive, there are some parts that really glow under torchlight. It's similar in Moel Fferna but on larger scale. It's very different from anything around Blaenau.
The graffiti is a real shame, this is one of the problems of having open access mines. It lets all the idiots in.
