For those who are interested, our new route is close to opening. It runs through Cwmorthin's Old Vein (where as our other, most established route, is in the Back Vein).

A short preview video is now available which Cwmorthin fans will hopefully enjoy:

***Link removed until Monday***

A proper, longer video is being prepared, but I only had one afternoon to shoot this and another to assemble it into a meaningful sequence - so it's a bit rushed.

Edit: I'll put the link back on on Monday. I've been told the video isn't supposed to be public until 22nd apparently...

Cool! I especially like the scene where the very small figure does the zip line in the distance. With dramatic limb-flailing! 🙂

Looks great, pleased to see all the work you have been doing come to fruition. Seems ages since I was in Cwmorthin think it was back in January when I helped with the telegraph poles.

Heheh, yes that's Kim (Amanda's husband). I did ask him to do that!

Congratulations for all the hard work you guys have done in there.

A hastily arranged trip today gave me the chance to inspect some of your offerings. After visiting queen marys cafe and heading up the far manway we came to the dip and the pipe bridge (last time I was there the syphon pipe was in Situ) enjoyed the climb into the old vein and then up the ladder in 7E before dropping down to the compressor chamber for lunch.

On the way back we decided to see the Telegraph poles I helped install back in Jan but headed down the old roofing shaft to the miners staircase, Both these locations have had a great makeover and looked completely different to how I remembered them.
Tried the zip wires in 2 and 3West and one of the braver members of our team went round the wall on the edge of 3W then back up the OVI inspected the poles and out.

Again congratulations on a job well done and repect to all the Go below staff that I met today. Did I notice a zipwire 4 west didn't try that as it looked to be a temporary one.

Hi Bob, twas I who kept seeing you in the mine yesterday. Yes, 4W is a temporary transport zip. We used it to move 10 railway sleepers into that area for platforms etc...
Probably wise to have retreated from it! Glad you saw a bit more. That wall traverse is fairly exposed isn't it? I had fun bolting that.

Yeah that zip is coming out, it was for sleeper transport only.

We put another 20 sleepers in there today, now sitting on the B landing.
