Noswaith dda / Gooood Evening one and all,

I'm currently tracing my family history in North Wales, having started my genalogy route after the passing of my Grandfather recently.

Having always had an interest in slate quarries and feeling close ties to the industry (although I believed my paternal side were always farmers) I've found out my Paternal Great Great Great Grandfather may have possibly worked at the Parc Slab Quarry.

He is listed in the 1861 Census as living in Gatehouse Parc, Llanfrothen, which is a few hundred yards away from Parc Slab Mine.

Would anyone have any knowledge of the mine? I visited the site earlier, but there isn't much to go on! I also noticed a trial adit closer to the ancestral house, and lament and wonder if my g-g-g-grandfather had started it?

Any tips?

Symai,
Moses Kellow's autobiography goes into some detail about Parc Slate mine - or Park Quarry as it's refered to. It's a good read so worth picking up a copy.

Has anybody been round this Mine or got any photos ,as I've driven up the road I've often wondered about this?
just blundering about

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
