First set of figures have now been uploaded (1-11). I need to update the figures list in the contents as sanity is starting to emerge.
I'll update and upload that as soon as I can.

Note that the figures pdfs will contain both landscape and portait images - the idea is to print them out. Let me know if this is a problem and I'll have another think. I could separate them into the two formats -but it'll wreck what sequence there is.

Many, many thanks for sharing your work Graham. Cwmorthin next door is one of my main interests (got copies of your original history and the latest reprint) but this now completes the history of the major quarries of this side of Blaenau. It's going to take some digesting!

Will give me a more complete idea of what led to the FR being built which I've been working on as a vol for over 50 yrs...

One more set to go to complement part one, probably won't get a mo to combine and post it though, unless there's a hiatus in the festive proceedings tomorrow - and then hopefully we're on to diagrams for part two. Roughly, anyway....

Ok - I've uploaded figures 56 to 59 which completes the original set for part 1. There will be some appropriate additions which are mentioned in the list of figures to come when I finish them! The next sets to be compiled and uploaded will be those roughly appropriate to part 2.

Set of figures 60-79 now uploaded.

This includes the "Pwmp Mawr" of 1895, the two "Untopping Inclines" of Twr Babl and Ffridd.

I've also uploaded an updated list of figures to the contents document. Naturally it's not final!!!

Brilliant Graham, these sketches and plans, some in glorious technicolour are really excellent. As I said earlier, many thanks for making this history available to us before (hopefully) it goes to a printed version.

Just uploaded the next set of diagrams (figures 80-93) please note that some numbers are missing as yet! (And don't believe the figures list -I've got serious numbering problems due to combining three different versions) - this set includes the 1899 DC underground incline, the Ffridd and Twr Babl Incline buildings and the Deep Level Drainage scheme. The next set will include the 1906 AC electrification.

Simon - I uploaded this set, then the "Upload a Document" link to upload the next refused to work - says page does not exist ????? Any ideas ?

OK - Figures 94-105 (nominally) uploaded OK. I don't understand what was going on last night! Please note that it is this set which includes the deep level drainage scheme, not the previous one. I'd appreciate some feedback on whether or not to add much colour to machinery drawings. The AC controllers seem to suit it, but I was not convinced by the BS90 motor - so that is line only.

I'll keep plodding on.

Problems uploading are almost always cured by closing the browser and retrying.

Re your query with regard to colour.
Because I like to have a paper copy to read and study I have printed the whole lot, much to the delight of the local paper and ink supplier.
You say there may still be some corrections needed, I have not found any yet, as to the use of colour I think you have got it just about right.
As for the whole thing its a work of art and you are to be congratulated on the effort you have put in producing it.
There should be an "Aditnow" award for such a contribution to the written history of mining/quarrying.:thumbsup:

As has been said, the figures are works of art. It's really useful to have the different floors in different colours - this is what REALLY makes this history different from Graham's previous work ie. Cwmorthin. Also with the more modern technology, the diagrams of say winders are really sharp and crisp.

Really (how many times have I said that!) enjoying reading the history.

Definitely due an award for this massive tome. :thumbsup:
