not sure if this is the right mine, my late grandfather was living in coniston around 1901 John chesterman born 1868 and was shown as a slate quarryman. It is believed he lost his leg in a mining accident. As there are no living relatives we are looking to try and verify this story.

Any pointers would be most appreciated.

Kind Regards

You could try the `ruskin museum` in coniston,I believe they have some records

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
