Hello, I'm looking for information on Hafod Owen, Dinorwig (the site is now the Dinorwic Power Station). I've found Graham Isherwood has posted some images on here, but other than that information seems rather limited. Two of the structures from Hafod Owen were subsequently moved and re-erected in the Parc Padarn Country Park, and if anyone knows anything about their removal and re-erection I'd be really grateful.

Spencer

I was on here when I worked for the Royal Commission on the 'Atlanterra Project' - if you haven't seen the completed animations the links are:

There is a nice section in this video:

Which shows the Hafod Owen type lifts at work at about 6 minutes in (though the example shown is, I think, balance worked) and the blondins.
I'm sure one of the more recent pathe postings on youtube also shows them, but can't remember which!
There are some nice period photos of them in "Dinorwic - The Llanberis Quarry"by R.G.Jones pp30,32,52,90

Cheers

Grahami
The map is the territory - especially in chain scale.

Hi Spencer,

The part where the power station is (ie the curved bridge and office building) was Wellington. Hafod Owen was further to the South and has been completely filled by spoil from the power station excavations.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
