Hi there, I am going on holiday to north-wales this summer for a few days to try the angling, hiking and to do some gold panning. I have a pan and have used it before when I was in California, found a few flakes of gold there which I still have. If anyone could tell me who I go about requesting permission from landowners in the area, any places they know allow panning in this area or any other details that would be great.

I think its banned outright now, someone else will be able to confirm though.
I recall something about a fella digging up a river with a JCB to get a bit of gold was one of the nails in the coffin.
FILTH - Think this is a playground? Think again...

I'm sure I've heard other outdoor instructors that I know saying about gold panning with groups. So I think it may still be OK recreationally but you probably don't want to be caught disturbing the river bed in any environmentally sensitive sites.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
