The hanging block in one of the Dinorwic tunnels (through to California pit) has dropped out:

Ahhh yes I know where you mean now. So its actually two large blocks and two small that were on top of them that have slid out.
Water and frost over the winter I suppose.

Very likely, we have had a few in recent months. We had a close encounter with two in Cwmorthin :lol:

Doesn't look like a place I'd like to trundle intentionally, some big blocks there! (and no fast, safe "run away" places!), Better to keep a watching brief and let nature (water, ice, gravity etc.) do the stuff.

Skirted round these in February, there is more loose stuff up there. Now off topic slightly but there is a chamber or very widened, chamber like section of tunnel just below there can anyone please shead light?

No, another tunnel below the one in the photograph. The one in the photograph at least in more recent times carried a water channel, the one below is railed
