Following our recent round of holidays and people being generally busy, I think at least 3 or 4 of us are available again.

Any suggestions for Thursday 13th?

My suggestions would be:
1. A return to Pantywrach to SRT into the Jaws Of Death beneath 10,000 tonnes of spoil  or....
2. A return to Moelwyn to gently SRT down a nice clean, dry shaft.....and then descend The World's Most Rickety Ladder to fully investigate the lower level, beneath another 10,000 tonnes of spoil  or....
3. A return to Cwm Ceunant to SRT into god knows what, but which I suspect to be a flooded level (Watery Jaws of Death? 😮 )

There is a definite SRT/death theme emerging here so will everyone else please vote to go for a curry, and that way it can all be avoided 😉 I will "let the people decide" :smartass:

I'm available, as is Simonrl.
Llion....any news yet?
Skimble?
Corin?
Willy?
Carlin?
Any more?

Yup, I'm up for any of the above (though may content myself with taking photos while other nutters delve into the Wrach's orifice).

If one the multitude of jaws of death gets me then I won't need to spend any money on a curry so either sounds good. If none of the jaws get me I fancy a curry after if there's time.

The 11th mate, all the best people are 😉

If you fancy coming out but dont want to go too far then how about Moelwyn again as Willy Eckerslyke, SimonRL and Owaincbrown haven't experienced "The Ladder of Loose Bowels", unlike us brave souls 😉
It's easy to get to, easy to rig and close to home for you if you need to make a sharp exit? 🙂

😉 Moelwyn would be good, need to see if that little passage goes...and to marvel at how 10.000 tons of loose **** is just hanging there,in mid air

And yes, a sharp exit 😉

And a curry, mmm, and maybe take a hot takeaway home to speed things along

Meet up in the car park by the cafe at Tanygrisiau, near the entrance to the power station, at 1815 ready to head off at 1830?

Can't get the Google Earth link to work :curse: , so anyone not sure where it is please PM me for details :flowers:

An easy SRT down the shaft and then onwards into oblivion 😮

We also had a short handline (of slings) tied to the bottom of the ladder, and more rope would be useful if investigating the hole below the ladder.

Yay I'm actually free for one of these for a change! Do you have to SRT back out again, or do you go in the top ab down and come out the bottom? I'm fine with abseiling down but I've never climbed ropes and don't have the kit for that.

Hi. It's an SRT in and out I'm afraid. The "shaft" is more of a roofing shaft following (roughly) the lode rather than a free hang, so its an easy ab in, and also an easy prussik out.... however it is a good 50m so it's a tough call to say if it's the best place to try it out for the first time. How confident/competent are you with abseiling or climbing generally? There are other bits of the mine to see that don't require SRT but it's a bit spread out over different levels so not ideal to go wandering off alone....come along and see how it goes?
