Home again :)

Who's up for a trip this Thursday?

Any requests or ideas :flowers:

I'm up for a trip.

A couple of places I'd like to see some time are Croesor (or is the long walk too much for an evening?) and Llaneilian (not much underground).

Or if you fancy something completely different but still cold, wet and cramped, I haven't had my kayak in the water yet this year. I have a second spare one so there's the option of taking it in turns to walk or kayak or just splashing around depending on numbers, weather, etc.

Low tide at Llaneilian won't be until about 22:40 on Thursday. The steps down the cliff are OK in reasonable weather conditions, but I wouldn't recommend swimming to the cave without a wetsuit.

Sorry, I won't be available for any more evening jaunts until the end of the month, but have a good time wherever you go.

Thanks, I hadn't realised the tides would be a factor there - and it's the steps I especially wanted to see. That's one for another day then.

You can get down to the bottom of the steps, and into an adjacent adit, soon after high tide, but as far as we could see the steps don't continue right down to the beach. If you want to walk rather than paddle or swim into the cave with the "quay" you'll need to leave it until about 90 minutes before low tide and take a handline to help you down the final seaweed- and barnacle-covered drop to the beach.

I might be about, the weather forcast on the met site looks good as well, maybe something that has some decent surface workings to see walking to a adit perhaps?

Ugh, sorry, something has come up today and I won't make it.

Have a good one if you go out - lovely day for an evening wander somewhere

Until next week!

We seem to be floundering without your organising skills Simon. πŸ˜‰
So I'll probably just have a paddle in my kayak. If anyone wants a go, drop me a PM before 4.30ish. I'm thinking Cable Bay (west Anglesey) for 6.30 or so, but could try anywhere that doesn't involve carrying boats for miles. Spare kayak is a little cramped for a big biffer, but keeps the water out. There's a spare buoyancy aid and paddle. No experience necessary - I just want to wash off the cobwebs, not head over the horizon.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
