There appears to have been a landslip which has partially blocked Bonsor Level and maybe resulted in damage to the internal arching.http://www.aditnow.co.uk/photo/Personal-Album-1166-Image-83500/

CAT have been informed and they have informed every agency going (Park, Trust, Water, Heritage, etc) and will seek permits (up to a year to sort out) to repair the entrance. They will do a great job as they always do but my worry is that all their previous 'jobs' have resulted in a locked /gated level, this cannot be allowed to happen.

CATMHS generally does what the landowner asks for.

All their previous 'jobs' ? In any case as Chris says - most of their digs have been on land where the landowner has insisted on a gate. No gate - no dig. In my experience most of the gates they have put on only require a spanner to open. Look at Ding-Dong for example.

Their last big effort at Coniston was the amazing 'job' they did on Hospital Level. Completely rebuilt a long length of the level which had fallen in. No gate on that! I don't think their extensive digs around Simon's Nick are gated either.

I'm not a member of CATMHS btw.
