Happened to notice an small excavator sat in the remains of the Penscoins incline (Port Dinorwic / Y Felinheli) a couple of weeks back.

It appears that the "site" is now for sale as a house plot - my initial thought is that there may be something of a stability problem, but that the potential exists for a pretty decent wine cellar!

Presumably the incline tunnel was merely blocked off, not actually filled?

A couple of archive pics are on Save Sallery's site: http://www.penmorfa.com/Slate/photos-1960's.htm  http://www.penmorfa.com/Slate/views-64,65,66.htm

Hello again darkness, my old friend...
