Was this a result of mineral vandals, sorry I mean mineral collectors? Was it done recently?

Ah well spotted, I was in there last night with merddinemrys and we saw this, but I can't recall if I've seen it before or if it's old. We did comment on it though so presume it's very recent.

Along lake level, beyond the BVI and just before the fish crate.

Marvellous use of waypoints there. Left at the fish crate ๐Ÿ˜‰

Right, nobody must move the fish crate before Vanoord gets a chance to have a look! Its difficult to miss really - must be recent.

*sigh!*

That'd be on the cross-passage somewhere around the Stripey Vein then... ::)

And if anyone else happens to want some samples of quartz, kindly go and find it in a lump of loose rock such as a bit of fallen roof rather than battering the sides of a tunnel: it'll save you the hassle of having to extract your funny little toffee hammer from somewhere that the sun doesn't shine* :)

* no, not E floor Old Vein...

It's a crate that used to have fish in it! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

It's technically called a "fish box" and is usually used to put fish in when they are caught on a boat - they get ice chucked over them to keep them fresh and then they're delivered to the fish market in said box and then onwards to the fish seller.

You sometimes find them washed up on beaches and less frequently, in mines. If you want some, you can buy them here: http://www.lmhglobal.com/uk/product_detail.asp?prod_id=530&qs=  You'll notice that it's called a "Stacking and Nesting container (fish)" - this does not mean that fish build nests!

My fault that ๐Ÿ˜ž formations get such odd names that 'fish crate' could easily be one

Good point, White Scar caves has collected a good few odd names, such as "The Devil's tounge" and "The alum lilly".

I shall go further.
Anyone caught causing material damage to Cwmorthin will be viewed in an extremely dim light. Appropriate action will be taken and the culprit will not like it. If you are reading this, you have been warned.

As Vanoord has said, if you want a lump of rock there are plenty lying around on the floor and in roof falls.

There is worse.

Last week I was up in N Wales and had a poke about Dinorwic. For the first time I visited the caban with the bench and the coats on the hooks.

Someone had kindly kicked the bench over (it was a foot from the wall - no accident) - disturbing some of the boots as well.

:curse: :curse: :guns: :guns:
Been injured while at work and are not to blame?

Get over it.
