A fascinating pic - thank you Grahami for uploading it.

This shows three veins as far as I can tell - the two that are visible these days are (presumably) the Old and New - is the additional one that can be seen in the picture the Back vein?

The bottom row of chambers with the incline disappearing into them is the New Vein, above that the Old Vein and yes the most distant is the Back vein. If you compare it with one of my 1980's colour shots you can see that basically the New vein chambers were largely blocked off by retaining walls over and around the Tuxford incline to protect it as the hard layer between Old and New veins broke up with being exposed to the weather. The remains of floor A Old Vein, immediately above the New Vein chambers remained much the same until the recent operations. Floor B New Vein was just about where the Tuxford Incline entered its archway tunnel. Floor B Old vein is down inside the chamber where the telephone/dc power lines poles are.
