Not sure which book its in, but the shop at Llechwedd had almost all the books in January.

You could also try the bookshop in Blaenau, the one almost opposite the carpet store (by the pedestrian lights).

I think the mine is covered in Vol 3. I have just ordered a used copy from Mike Moore Books for £3 !

I remember, when visiting Keswick Mining museum last week, I heard Jean Tyler mentioning to my dad that they went to ffestiniog to see some friends. Thay have many books of the sort so try there (including welsh ones : Hafod Las Quarry etc...)

Ok, I have now got D.Bicks book no.3. Unfortunatley it does not say very much, but here it is :
The upper (no.1) level was started as a crosscut towards 2 parralell lodes that outcropped on the hillside, but production did not start until 1909 under the "scottish cardigan co.". The mine was very rich for a few years and 1240 tons of ore were mines before 1916. The lower level is described as being blocked and thus access to the cages is possible only from the upper level. This would seem to confirm our theory regarding the depth of the mine cages relative to the roadside. 🙂

Not much there then but at least it confirms that the lift cages are on the road level. I just wonder how its draining. I'd love to see a plan of the mine.
