The Coal Authority have the responsibility for filling in shafts whether they are coal mines or not.

Normally an overkill as they don't want anyone hurt by a later collapse.

Looking at the state of the rock, it would make sense to collar it properly to stop the bob wall moving, as they sometimes do. I don't think it's worth them grilling it, they might as well put some RSJ's across the bottom of the hole, clean up the edges and put in a lorry load of C30.
