As I asm new to the forum I hope I am not using it for the wrong purpose!.
I am visiting Redruth in November and intend to walk and Photograph the mines on the Great Flat Lode, I have various books and guides but would be grateful for any further advice, from anyone who is familiar with this walk.

Only have walked it in sections, but most of the "restored" mines on the route are well photographed. However if you deviate off the well trodden path, the less restored mines are more interesting. If you have time, you could highlight (on a map) mines near to the GFL and look them up on this site for more in depth info. But I am sure there are some experts on this site, who can tell you more. Stocking up on books by Bob Acton and Joff Bullen will help also.

Is it safe to come out of the bunker yet?

Due to the wisdom? of our local authority masters, half the mines on the Great Flat Lode trail are not on the Great Flat Lode or anywhere near it! 😞

I count around 8 mines (probably 10 - 12 engine houses) on Bob A's 1996 GFL map. But as Spitfire says many are not on the GFL and some of those that are, are not on the trial.
It is really a cycle trail rather than a carefully planned route for those interested in all the major mines in the area.
For example there is no Dolcoath (1/2 mile diversion) nor Robinson's shaft or East Pool ( 1 mile diversion), West Basset Stamps(1/2 mile?) , Doesn't go through Wheal Buller workings only on edge of it (Cross the road, take path to Lanner to see more),to name but a few...
King Edward mine museum is on the route, but only normally open on Sunday mornings in the winter, good place for advice, books etc.

Regarding the West Basset Stamps this photo was taken at Lyle's three years ago. Confusing somewhat. I haven't been up there recently so cannot confirm that it's still there but I imagine so.

Re Photo - Looks like they forgot to put an arrow under the name pointing to up the lane...

Yes that crossed my mind although it's not that close to the lane. I suspect they didn't actually want to officially direct people to what actually wasn't part of the designated walk. So a compromise.
