Hey guys,
Have had a mining search done recently and there are two positions for the wheal daniel adit marked. Opening is supposed to be in the valley south of where the adits are marked. Anyone able to shed any light on which of of the positions is most likely and where the (supposedly obliterated) portal is? That lode was supposedly not dug out, although I don't believe it. (Lode in red, adit in white).

Come on, you've got the Hamilton Jenkin books. If I remember rightly, the Wheal Busy lot caused a bit of a rumpus by damming the Wheal Daniel Deep Adit. I think there were people with guns involved and all sorts of violence.....If I recall even further, this was before the branch of the County Adit had been driven through Busy and Busy was still using it's deep adit, which has it's portal somewhere around here.

I gather it's totally obliterated.

In one end of the Gun Club is Daniell Engine Shaft

and higher up is the Whim Shaft

I dropped the Engine Shaft (which was used by SWW for water abstraction and latterly by some gippos as a dump) and the water level was about 40ft down, corresponding with Daniell shallow adit with the portal where you know it is. All flooded. Furthermore, I think the stoping and levels were deepish there and anything is well below water........

The Daniel Deep adit and Busy Deep adit are in that area, but as for any workings, I think they're further north.

Anyway.....
