seen on another forum that box is being surveyed from the u/g doorways to the militery bit into the areas we go in
they are spraying marks that could be places for new walls to be built
sounds like going to build walls to block off the mod bits that are open access at the minute
anyone know what is really happening?
will the spray paint hurt the bats and will gaps be left for them?
the delta rectangle shafts will be inside the new wall as will a lot of other stuff on that side of the quarry, will the robots be lost?

1) I suspect the bats are very low down on the list of priorities!

2) I also suspect the robots will become handy shuttering accessories.

Edit: I further suspect that those "in the know" will not tell us. 😉

bats have more priority than disabled, single-parent Somali asylum seekers in a Labour marginal, from my experience...

That theory would be OK except the people in charge of this project do not answer to any politician.

Considering the YouTube videos and reports on one urbex forum I'm surprised the MOD have not filled the lot with PFA. :curse:

if the country and the mod are so short of money how come they can afford to wall off more of the u/g bits when most of what they have is already not used?

leaving aside the slightly cynical view that it might be a bunker for McRuin and his NuLab fascisti when everything goes pear-shaped, bats have nothing to do with politics. They have all kinds of legal protection, probably the only native British born species that do ( apart from badgers )

I have to say that some parts of Box arte pretty scary and if I were the Mine Owner or his delegate, and I was seeing some of the stuff urbexers have no more sense to post, I'd be pretty concerned.

Because people have been taking the mick.
What they don't use is wet, the Basil Hill area is having an awful lot of money spent on it and its no surprise that the MOD is protecting its investment.
Perhaps if people didn't persist in broadcasting their atempts to break into MOD property all over the internet it wouldn't be happening.
People also need to apreciate that the MOD carefully monitors a lot of websites.

Loss of areas of box is entirely down to the lack of descretion of some people.

Good evening folks, nice to see you're all being friendly ;)

Cheers for the information, Ditzy, it'll be an interesting thing to keep an eye on.

I suspect the next development will be a concrete pump at the MOD shaft, hope not though. 😞

Not seen them so dnt no
went for a look yesterday. they are using the brewers drift door to work from leaving wires all round the bit marked above
met two other groups in ther, one quite large and one of only 4
large group said the door had been open all week but was closed on sunday. robots have been moved about and the beehive nocked down

on the route from backdoor to cath there seemed to be a lot of new roof falls as well. lots of new spray paint as well 😞

Bats have their uses and are a way of maintaining access areas of Snailbeach were left open thanks to the Bats all those nice concrete Tunnels through collapsing stopes were not put in for benefit (we did have a sympathetic Council Officer at the time)

Objections could be raised through the local bat group that will stop anny blocking of tunnels

It won't.

The MOD needs to secure their boundaries, it is going to happen regardless of who it upsets.
