Dear All

I would really like to know where to find these engine houses. I've seen pictures of these engine house remains on this site, so know they exist. I'm not a great one for Ordnance Survey maps, so if anyone has a lat/long reference, or even a postcode or nearby streetname I would love to have it !

Many Thanks

Hello Again, the stamps engine house still stands with stepped chimney but as far as I've seen only the base of the whim is extant, I think that you need to visit the locations as given below, long time I was at the whim but I think its right behind some sheds of some sort....

The 80inch engine house is now conserved as a feature of the fairly new travellers site although I must admit I didn't see it the last time I was up there. The old sump shaft , capped and obscured, is on the north side.
The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

Which 80" engine house is that? The only engine house still standing at Carn Brea is the old stamps engine house and was built for a 32" single acting stamps engine. That and another next to it worked 208 head of stamps.
I think you are referring to Carn Breas Old Sump Shaft pumping engine house of which a fraction exists well hidden in the traveller site.
The old sump beam whim of which the base still exists last time I looked is where I indicated.

You are correct. Thought that's what the original post was about. Sorry. I'll desist from further comment.
