I do a fair bit of caving and digging in Devon and am keen to get into some mines locally what trips would you recommend for someone new to mines and how should I go about organising them.

The "carbis bay crew" (look at the mine explorer forum) are out and about a fair bit. They're a good bunch of blokes and do a fair bit of rope training as well as going down lots of holes. They're safe and knowledgable.

A lot more of the trips are rope jobs than up that way.

Hi Stuey

If you go to www.namho.org you will see under the "members" link all the NAMHO member clubs. There you should find the Carn Brea group which Kevin Baker is in (I think). If you have trouble email Nigel Dibben, NAMHO Sec, under "contacts" link; he is very helpful.

Also see my email in the UK events forum about the NAMHO2010 conference, as it is down your end of the country again this year. There are several underground mine trips as you will see from the conference website.

Cheers
Rogerthedodger.

Hi Paul (Coxie)

My last post was for you , not Stuey.

Apologies to Stuey, I got the wrong name in my reply!

Sorry

Thank for the info folks.

I'll try to get in touch with the Carbis Bay guys.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
