Question for Regional Editors:
Colleague has collected some very recent photos, where the adit / workings have been opened up further with a digger (landowner involved / permission given) for the purposes of exploration, but cannot find entry in Mines list to post these images to. Is it listed under another name?
Thanks

Its there .... logically (Hmmmm) placed in the DB as -

MARY ANN WEST

(Rather than WEST WHEAL MARY ANN which would have made sense to you)

Regards ICLOK

EDIT. Would love to see some pics from this area as not a lot seems to remain so these would be really welcome!

Yes found it, was searching under South west by region, but could not find out until did a general search.
Should it be classified as East Cornwall or Central Cornwall?
Not sure where the "borders" are ? (One for the regional editors).
Will try to upload some photos tomorrow..
Message for regional editors: This maybe Wheal Mary Ann - the one that is NORTH of Menheniot as the position shown on the map for Mary Ann West is not the mine explored.
Is there a way of marking it or do you just need an OS reference?

Some recent underground exploration has been carried here by landowner and groups given special permission.

Thanks

Get me the GR and I will dig out me notes... you are probably right MARY ANN sounds more likely. Its def East Cornwall although not linked to that currently. I do correct them as I find them and shall in this case too.

i have edited the name to west mary ann and put a little info about the mine, access is possible but the land owners are not keen on being bombarded with requests for access and ask if anyone is interested can they contact one of the local exploration groups such as Plymouth caving group or talk direct to a local mine explorer such as myself, i don't know the owners personally but can pass requests from people wanting legit access on to the right people.

Mine where shaft/adit has been re-opened is SX 287 637, which is different to the information / position given on location on database entry. IS one site Wheal Mary Ann and the other West Mary Ann?
Ferret - The Recent visit was made by a local exploration group arranged in advance with Landowner's permission / prescence.

You appear to be at WHEAL MARY ANN which on the DB almost exactly where you are.

as fare as i understand the location is right as the whole area is part of the west mary ann set and the location marker was put in the middle of this, if anyone knows better then please let me or ICLOK know as regional editors.

as to access - i just put how to get it as people may view the post latter and wonder.

Thanks for Help!
Colleague thought it was Wheal Mary Ann he visited, but I had trouble finding this on database under regional heading.

I don't have access to a Dines, so will leave it to Regional Editors to confirm which is the correct designation.

Is it possible to put Advice on access permission for west mary ann on Mary Ann other entries or combine all entries to one site?
Thanks again

You probably already know all this, but just to enlarge on the subject.
There is link to the website (www.minecaptain.plus.com) giving full details on West Mary Ann and Mary Ann, in the links page on the LH column.
I believe this contains an e-mail address to one of the owners.
From what I have been told there maybe two land owners involved, but in either case they are working with a group of enthusiasts to reopen the adit. At the moment the adit at Mary Ann is being worked on by one of the owners(Tony?) and some mining enthusiasts. I would guess that they are trying to make the workings safe(r) and it would seem reasonable for the owner to not want anyone going on the site until it is safe(r). My Colleague who went on a visit here, was only observing the work and being shown around the site. I think we are all saying the same thing - visits can only happen by permission of the owner(s) and should be via one of the mining groups in the region who have regular contact with this mine.
The webpage has some excellent photos of what is going on and is updated regularly.

Tin Miner why is it you must turn everything into a confrontation? When Dolcoathguy started this thread it was not long before he made clear that access to the site was only with the owners permission. that was the way I read it anyway, as I am sure anyone else did. My advice to you is stick to matters your own side of the Tamar

If somebody is having problems registering or posting all they need do is email (email address is on the left hand side of each page) and we can advise. If somebody has a point to raise they are free to do so.

The point I was making Mr Tin Miner was your third posting was quite adequate, the fourth quite unnecessary. I have no connection with anyone that has posted to this thread including Dolcoathguy or Ferret

TM, I don't actually see that anyone has done anything wrong here (as I have found 25 pics on the net) many on the website which is a total access magnet and even has a virtual tour!! When will this be taken down to protect the mine site in question??
Once again you have escalated this, such that photos have been removed, access is under discussion (yet again) and made such an issue of this you have probably had the opposite effect, as anyone so inclined to illegally visit sites is now going to be intrigued and visit!
You say you are trying to do the right thing everytime yet fail to by your attitude to your fellow enthusiasts, please stop getting personal.

I own West Wheal Mary Ann and started work on it some 30 years ago. If you look on my web site: www.minecaptain.plus.com under map of Menheniot mine sets
you will see that sets do not overlap. They are nearly half a mile apart. It was bad enough when the sets where side by side as were Trehane. Trelawny and Mary Ann as they would encroach into each others sets as they often did in those days causing terrible rows. I asked for the photo's to be taken down as the landowner has had plant ( machinery ) stolen from this site and doesn't want his machinery posted on the web. There will be no chance of anybody outside of our group getting into the adit as it is under 7ft of water at all times except when we pump it for the time when we are working there, that is if we can do it. If any one wants to see what we are doing and have done, just e-mail me. The landowner will not allow anybody on the site without me being there. These are his conditions in letting us work and collect minerals on this site. I hope this explains everything.
