I've uploaded a small section of the high-pressure boiler designed by R. Trevithick. It's lying behind Taylor's Shaft, East Pool. I thought it was a Kibble. Sad really.

Interesting to compare it with a painting by Tomas Cuneo of R. Trevithick and Nicholas Holman inspecting the Newly invented boiler made in Holman's foundry. Painting courtesy Allen Buckley "The story of Mining in Cornwall".

To put it mildly the history of this area is extremely complicated. Where is it not. I put a potted histort from Cornwall-calling in the East Pool and Agar but it covers it. Yes S. Crofty comes into it so do so many mines. But East Pool was an important mine. By 1923 Taylors Shaft was down to 1215ft and more good tin lodes were being discovered. An abandoned 90 inch engine at Carn Brea mine was purchased for the new shaft. The famous engine now preserved by the National Trust. Initials were carved into the engine house. Bloody drainpipe. ::)

Bad pointing as well! 😮

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
