The Coal Authority now posts interesting videos of their work in treating former mines for shaft collapses (a recent video from Wigan shows this), Pennine lead mine erosion repair and other topics.
One of the most fascinating is this one, showing a camera survey down #7 Shaft at Langton Colliery in 1999. Water can be seen pouring into the depths from one of the insets, as the shaft was flooded to below 180m from the surface when this was shot.
Now, they state that all of the insets are submerged, as the water has now risen to 65m from the surface, a level they maintain it at.
