Hi
We're looking to buy a house in Kilburn. Are the old mines anything to worry about? Does anyone live above them? And if so, have they caused any issues with the building? I'm worried about potential issues. And whether you have problems getting buildings insurance. Other issues are radon gas?

Might I suggest you contact your solicitor, who will undergo all the usual searches and you will get professional indemnity out of it, rather than bits and pieces of information online ?

It's a house purchase - probably the biggest purchase in your life.
Trying to save £200 or so by skimping on the conveyancing (and my apologies for being horribly blunt about this) is about as stupid as it's possible to get.
Madness takes its toll, please carry exact change

Actually, it was more for my own knowledge! I already have a solicitor looking into it and am awaiting the results of our home buyers survey before we start the mining searches. So I'm NOT trying to save money by looking for online information. So much for looking for a bit of friendly information 😠

Try looking in Geological Survey borehole scans;

if eight out of ten cats all prefer Whiskas
Do the other two prefer Lesley Judd ?

Lived in tibshelf all my life and our house is over the old pit site at sunny bank. No signs of subsidence although other properties have suffered before, a dog walker and his furry companion also fell through the ground on a well known trail route into a disused passage below!

No insurance issues that i know of!
"I got enough batteries to live down here indefinitely!"

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
