---- “The latest edition of ‘Mining History (Vol. 20 No.10) dropped through the letterbox this morning. As ever it is well written, produced and illustrated.

It contains an article by Richard Lamb entitled A Smelting Miscellany Part 3 – This is mainly concerned with various mills in the Dales and contains a good bibliography together with detailed archaeological and historical explanations.

An article based upon a Ph.D.by Dr. Juan M. Cano Sanchiz on the English exploitation of the Cerro Muriano mine, Spain between 1897 and 1919 is included.

John Barnatt has written an article on the Ecton Mines 1880 dressing shed

Chris Heathcote has produced an article on the Clear-the-Way or Black Hillock Mine on Tideswell Moor between 1711 and 1940

The last article is by Chris Bowen and Les Twissell on ‘Ancient Mining Features in The Wigpool Iron Mine’ Forest of Dean.

The Journal was accompanied by the latest Newsletter.

Members of the Society get 2 editions of ‘Mining History’ and four Newsletters per year for their subs of £25-00.
