Hi everyone,

I am looking for any advice or locations of mines to visit this evening. Preferably a dry mine, but i guess i will consider some which only involve a bit of wet feet!

I live near Matlock, have done balleye, silvereye, jugs, masson, devonshire, wapping, groaning tor, the chert mine at bakewell as well as long rake before it became operational again. Also have done mouldridge at pikehall, so anything similar to these in the area which i have not visited yet?

i am willing to travel up to an hour away from Tibshelf so castleton is about my limit for this evening. Prefer no SRT requirements don't mind having to use a handline but some of my group aren't confident with SRT yet.

A mine may be nice but not dry, or dry but not nice
if eight out of ten cats all prefer Whiskas
Do the other two prefer Lesley Judd ?

I don't 100% agree with that after visiting a few nice dry mines like devonshire cavern i guess the dryer they are the more dusty the air but it is a nice mine with some pretty cool features, the staircase in particular at devonshire :)

I decided to not go exploring this weekend anyway and i am holding off for a trip to Wiltshire early September 😉

Might just be a bit of a wash out now, a few good spots on Mendip though!

Well yes the bottom part is quite wet but the guys i usually go with aren't best suited to the tight crawls through water haha! The top half is nice and dry though! Same for wapping and cumberland, masson etc they've got wet parts but they are optional so to speak

Well the original plan was to do box and browns, but it appears that box has been sealed 😞 been wanting to visit for about a year now and when the time finally came to become possible, entry has been made difficult, though not impossible i am led to believe! What other mines around Wiltshire are worth a visit?

Only Kingsdown or Browns, but TBH I give the whole of Wiltshire underground a wide berth, its too full of politics!

It does appear that way from reading on the forums about the area... the plan has changed now anyway and we plan to return to wales for a 3rd explore around the epic slate mines, foel grochen at aberllefenni absolutely blew my a few weeks ago! Like something out of jurassic park!

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
