Walton Colliery is shown on this site in the position of Cap House Colliery. Cap House IS the mining museum and is in the position indicated. Walton is not/was not part of this group and was some miles to the East of Wakefield near the villages of Walton & Crofton. Walton was known as Sharlston West pre-nationalisation. If someone can tell me how, I'll move it to the correct position.

I've used an online tool to produce the ref as I'm a bit out of practice with the paper maps. I've positioned the marker as near as I can ascertain over where the shafts were. NGR : SE 35915 18303 Northing 418303 m Easting 435915 m. Thanks, Nick

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
