The mine is on private land owned by Mr Frank Shepheard. There was a meet there last summer when Mr Shepheard kindly drained the mine, which is in use as a water supply, to allow entry.
Although Mr Shepheard has a kindly disposition, I would advise waiting until another group visit is arranged. If this involves me, I will post it on both websites.
As far as the mine is concerned, it is explorable as far as it always has been, as far as the fall adjascent to the engine chamber. There are plans uploaded on this site. The Blackburn Level, being the lowest, is driven for about 3/4 of a mile as a long crosscut. First it cuts Victoria Vein at about 900 metres and then reaches the main lode at about 1300 metres. here there is an underground winze complete with one of the cages and the underground winding chamber. There is also another engine chamber adjascent, plus a lot of the associated pipework. It is a very interesting underground trip.
