Hello everyone - I finally joined up at last - long overdue.
I was asked to post some photos of the recent collapse at Odin, discovered by us last week, and also to pass on the latest DCA request that everyone (sadly) stay away from the mine until assessment and stabilisation work has been completed. This is reiterated by the landowners, the National Trust, and also English Heritage, as the site is a SSSI and a Scheduled Monument.
Having seen the collapse myself, it's definitely not stable, and although potentially interesting from an archaeological point of view, is not really fit for through-trips at the moment. As I was about to embark on a long-term photographic project there, I'm as miffed as anyone else about the restriction, but the long-term future of the mine and its future visitors is the most important issue really. It could turn out for the better in the long-run - who knows? It's a dynamic environment, and liable to change without warning.
I've just posted the photos of the collapse in the Odin user album.
Many thanks
