The Klondyke entrance has been backfilled ,I was devistated to see this,it made me realise why it is important to get out there and take as many photos as we can ,before places like that are lost forever.

Klondyke hasbeen disused since I think the 60s, no idea why they'd want to fill the tunnel. Maybe they're planning to extendThe PeatF Field Quarry into Klondyke, and don't want people going in there. But I doubt that becasue Peat Field isn't exactly at the top of the safety list in terms of Health & Safety, so why bother with Klondyke?

Presumably that was done several months ago? There seems to be green vegetation growing in the fill?

I was there in May (on hols) it was ok then ,I had a walk into the quarry above yesterday and noticed that they had broken into large underground workings,so this is possibly the answer to the backfilling.
