Hi there
Hodge Close and Klondyke were originally seperate woprkings, and are not linked underground (though Klondyke is linked to Peat Field Quarry). However, later on they shared the same tipping area etc...
Hodge Close can sometimes be considered as one quarry, and at other times as the quarries of: Parrock Pit, Hodge Close Pit, Bakerstone Barrow, Peat FIeld, Klondyke - and Calf Howe. Peat Field and Klondyke can if wanted both be classed as part of Hodge Close, as towards the end of the operation - all these quarries were operated in the same area using the same tip, and by the same company. Calf Howe Qurry however, is sometimes considered as a section of Hodge Close, though it was entirely seperate, and used different tipping space, + wasnt linked to any other workings underground. However - it was linked to Hodge Close and Klondyke via a raised traway which also served a few trial levels probably considered as part of Klondyke, Peat Field or Calf Howe???
Hodge Close is a bit of a puzzle, for instance, a short distance from the Klondyke Quarry access level - is another level coming in from Hodge Close tip, which leads deep beneath Klondyke, though is still considered as part of Hodge Close.
Also the Parrock and Hodge Close pits were not originally linked until they connected via an archway and an underground level...
