Geology:
the study of rocks & similar substances (minerals n such) that make up the Earth''s surface.
Minerals:
are the building blocks of rocks. They are a naturally occuring, inorganic, solid, crystalline substance which has a fixed structure. (and some of them are really pretty)

about 200 yards to a collapse as it enters the vein, it is also the water supply for the nearby Farm, I entered with the permission of the owner and drinker of said water who wanted to know the condition of the mine.

Have you been into Porter Level on the other side of the ridge?
I understand Moredale Ridge Level was abandoned due to "unstable ground" after 12fms in 1844.

Porters Level is currently inaccessible. It has two adits - an early hand level and a later horse level which converge a few yards in. We had a dig at both last year and the hand level looked the most promising, but we've not yet to got around to going back.
