In this and all the modern photo's the steam piston cylinder has been attached incorrectly, it should be rotated 90 degrees anti-clockwise:

Yup! definitely not the GCA.

The only pictures of the adit without water is the adit bypass which was constructed by Wheal Jane Mine, after the part which passes under the old track of the Redruth Chasewater railway collapsed.
These pictures show it under construction, and the final one completed.
