Hi,

Just popping in to say "Hi", as I've recently become interested in the lead mines of Swaledale, and have been checking out the great pics and snippets of information on this site from afar.

Time to take it to the next "level" ( see what I did there 😢 ) and join the forum ;)

As some of you may have seen on your Facebook page, I'm particularly keen to have a look round the Sir Francis Level before I get too old / scared, so will keep an eye out for any expeditions, etc.

Hi Graeme,

We had a bit of a chat on the Facebook page, and following that christwigg and I have ended up organising a trip on the 17th of June doing the Brandybottle through-trip and Sir Francis Level (see 'Suggestions wanted for 2017 trips' thread, oddly in the 'North Wales' forum) . We'll get organised and get it on the events page on here soon, so get yourself signed up when we do. I'm often underground around the area so I'll drop you a message if I'm doing anything I think you might be interested in - Sir Francis and Brandybottle are both pretty intense in terms of wetness/airspace so it would be a good idea to have a trip or two in a more straightforward mine first.

I often visit the Swaledale area, usually to visit Tan Hill Inn which has some photos from the mines in it. I would be up for a trip to the mines near Gunnerside myself.
