There is the correct way like this guy does it , but I tried to price up those batteries and they were £96 each
a bit expensive just to light a lamp

I'm sure a much smaller battery would do.

Following on from Morlock's suggestion of using Panel Wipe instead of Coleman Fuel...... I got a 5 litre tin via that auction place for £14.99p delivered. Comparing the price per litre of Panel Wipe v Coleman Fuel, the term "no-brainer" springs to mind. Filled one of my Type 6's with it - ignites and burns the same as when filled with my dwindling supply of Colzaline. My Zippo lighter seems to like it as well !

Anyone else got a report to add on using this stuff ?

Dunno about panelwipe but my zippo has been running on the Coleman fuel for years.
Quite economically and as you may have noticed, I use my lighter quite a lot :)

I'll stick to my Colemans , one bottle lasts me about a year anyway , trouble with that panel wipe , it probably contains silicone and other cleaning type chemicals which could be rather nasty if inhaled

Thanks for your comments gents. Points noted. I doubt it contains silicones, as it says on the label that its ideal for removing silicone deposits and wax prior to rubbing down and spraying ? However, I won't be sniffing the stuff, no matter what's in it. I've enough to last a lifetime, it's reeeel cheap and it works. That'll do me.

The real stuff seems quite hygroscopic. I got 2gals from Eccles many moons ago. Been in a very well sealed container, but over the years, It's obviously absorbed the damp stuff because it can sound like Saturday night in the chip shop for the first few minutes of lighting a flame lamp. The panel wipe is like "fresh" Colzaline ie. no spitting.

@jagman.. Hope to catch up again soon. Will be in touch via Ol' Zeek down at the Telegraph Office !! ;D

Test flame cap might be different height in certain circumstances as opposed to using Colzaline/Mineral Colza ?? A bit academic really I suppose.[/u]

No silicone

Paint will react with silicone

The info was found on a pressure lamp & stove forum so the economics are probably even better for that type of usage.
