Hello there, I've only recently signed up to Aditnow but haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Colin Hindle and I live near Bishop Auckland in County Durham. I've been interested in metal mining since the late 70's. I did a few u/g trips in the Yorkshire Dales with NMRS and took my first photos using a Pentax ME film camera. Later, I joined the NMRS committee and was Treasurer for around 7 years. I teamed up with the Durham Dales Mining Society and was a keen digger of levels. When the kids came along I hung up my lamp (I thought for good), but now they are older I've dusted it off again! My main interest is the North Pennines orefield although I find the history of Cornish mining and UK coal mining fascinating too - I had a trip down Hapton Valley colliery (Burnley) when at school and Cadeby colliery (S. Yorks) when at college. Looking back, at the time, I think I imagined there'd always be pits! Anyway, 'nuff for now, I hope to be able to contribute to the forum in the future. Best wishes, Colin.
