Doubtful. I keep trying to get the PCB out to analyse the schematic. But not hopeful. If I do a lot of Chinese electronics have chips with no part number, so impossible to identify.
Probably rip offs of legit production runs for major western companies.

Got the PCB out. There is a large chip doing the charging and indication bit and a Texas Instruments PMP 4057 LED boost driver, but nothing resembling anything like an inverter, or any series inductor, everything just being done by MOSFETs.
I did test it before I did this and got 2.91 amps out on turbo - fresh charge battery. At nominal voltage it was down to about 1.6 amps giving about 600 lumens, in other words, it nosedives.

Its scrap now anyway as I broke the flat ribbon data cable to the charge state indicator getting it out.

Frankly, I cannot see a point to this torch. It was just about light and small enough to put on a keyring but had to work a bit of copper wire through the little hole they provide and solder the ends into a tiny circle to get it on a keyring.
There are powerful pocket torches out there that take a single removable to charge - 18650 cell and have proper boost electronics to drive an XHP 35. Imolent do one.

Now got to the bottom of it.
Basically, its scrap. Testing it at nominal voltage, its taking a fluctuating 30mA on standby, which is 'off' being under soft control, from a 850 mAh cell. This tends to explain things. Obviously the capacity of the cell indicates a cell designed to deliver a high discharge.

Obviously it discharged itself down to the point whereby the battery management disconnected the battery, this should typically be 2.7 to 3.0 V according to the design. Obviously there has to be a margin as someone could put it away discharged and it could then fall below the 2.5V discharge limit through standing, after which is should not be chargeable.

Lozz makes very pertinent comment. If a LiIon cell falls below the safe minimum (refer to manufacturers data sheet), recharging can cause internal short circuits. There have been fires.
A properly designed charger should not charge a cell if its voltage is below the safe limit.

As far as this torch goes, my advice is to avoid. The warranty situation is obvious and the reliability of the torch design dubious. Shame as I liked Imolent.

I have just received this and first impressions very favourable.
Its quite tiny, smaller than my little finger and weighs only 11 grams. Its 150 lumens max which is enough to get you out of anywhere, with 2 modes inc a smaller stated 5, and the max. I think the smaller is understated after having just tested it as this would get you out of anywhere.
There is a definite beam pattern in a nice clearly defined circle, don't know what the LED is but this is very clever for such a small size. It does look like a custom optic in there, whatever, it works well. On the max its extremely impressive for such a small piece of kit.
Just the 2 modes, no daftness.

They rate it at IPX8 2 metres. The switch is a twist to operate and required definite effort, so this is a rider against accidental operation. The back unscrews and retracts to expose the mini USB charging port and charging indicator. The ring is about 8mm so easy to fit on a keyring.

On the face of it, I see a real winner.

We all go underground on our own sometimes, now don't we, and we all carry spare lighting as well dont we. But.....
