I guess many lessons have been learnt since the last time.
There must be more pressure to give this more resources now.

There is a technical paper here (slightly out of date) on Hot Rocks technology.http://geoheat.oit.edu/bulletin/bull22-4/art4.pdf .

I think the mention of Iceland and America in the article might be slightly misleading.
The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

The geothermal set up in Southampton doesn't get much attention. That particular source is limited, unfortunately.

You'd be surprised at the amount of geothermal boreholes advanced on a daily basis in the UK, most of which are either executed by Irish or French firms for domestic and commercial clients. The market is expanding rapidly, with 'everyman and his dog' trying to get their share, especially since there isn't a great deal of work in geotechnical sector at the moment.

In my personal opinion, I feel that the larger projects such as Heathrow T3 should have been given more coverage in the press in order to 'pave the way' for similar projects which are under construction or currently awaiting funds.

There are also rumours (with a significant weight of truth)that E-on/Central networks are routing funds into geothermal installations for gas customers which are currently beyond the reach of mains gas and, by doing so, are taking on the likes of Calor, Shell and Flogas not to mention the domestic oil firms as well.

Interesting times to say the least....

Interesting???? I would love to now the exact location on this one, I would guess somewhere like Carn Marth. i t would certainly be good for the area, for more than the obvious reasons.

saying that, i have just re read it, I first read it as ot would be a 55Mw power plant, which would be fantastic, however reading it again I notice it says producing 55Mw every year, the Camborne redruth Area consume that nearly every hour!

I read it as having 65 MW available all year round, what it produces should be in MWh. 55 MWh annual production might be used in an average street in a year, So I guess they mean 55 MW + 10MW available output. So yes it would still only power Camborne / Redruth.
More Interesting as said is the location.
I can't think of anywhere other than Carn Marth either.

Anyhow the following site should have latest updates:

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
