I have just fitted a new replacement light bulb in my bathroom, and there on the packet is its output in lumens.

Modern LED light bulbs all have this, and retailers like Tesco etc cannot by law sell a product that carries a false trade description.
So there you have it in front of you, what certain value of lumens actually looks like when it on.

So much for the exaggerated torches on eBay.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

The bulb on the right sold by a highly reputable UK retailer carries a correct description of its output. The eBay torch on the left carries a fake claim for its output. One only has to look at the output of the bulb to get an idea what lumens are all about and form ones own judgement.

The Imolent DX 80 does it it, I have one. Its 8 X XHP 50s on full wack off a 16V 8 Samsung high discharge 18650 cells. So you do get the 32,000 lumen output claimed, or virtually.
They are on eBay at just over £200, but beware the IP 68 rating that on my torch at least depends on a push in rubber plug!
Mine failed and cost me £90 for new power pack. I could not make one up in the old casing because of the high discharge management PCB which was trashed. Tried swapping some components but messed up the board.

By way, lumens can be measured. I have incorrectly stated previously that they cant. You need an expensive piece of equipment called an "Integrating Sphere". I have friend who is a designer for BA Systems who uses one. I keep pestering him for advice re potential new designs!

Just checked ebay. There is a UK seller offering the DX80 for £199 inc postage

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IMALENT-DX80-UK-CREE-XHP70-LED-32000lm-IPX-8-Waterproof-8-x-LED-Smart-Flashlight/153548809575?hash=item23c038e567:g:P7MAAOSwerddGcEk

Thing to remember is that most torches come without batteries so not a fair price comparison. These are sealed rechargeable.

Not a UK seller Roy!
Look at the feedback page, based in the land of the ******.

A lot of them pretend to have a UK address or the address is a chip shop....

You are still covered by Paypal/Ebay though.

Well yes, but mine was Ok and delivered on time.
Just beware of the IP 68, not sellers fault though. Maybe they have changed the design now.

Only foolproof charging plug is the Hummel 10BAR rated ones I am using, about £3.50 a piece mind.

I own a D4 and the thing is like carrying a supernova around, I can't even begin to imagine what the D18 is like with its 14,000 lumens.

Obviously they don't last long on those high settings, but for light painting and quick illumination they're great.

Over the last year or so I've been frequenting the Budget Light Forum a fair bit and have bought a few torches as a result. It's a good place to find good reviews of torches.

This is also a good resource. Check out the hyperlinks to beam shots:-

I can personally recommend the BLF Q8 (5000+lumens). Available from Sofirn store on Aliexpress. Sofirn make some decent lights, I have a few. Convoy make good lights also. Convoy official store is also on Aliexpress. Don't expect to find a 32000 lumen light from either of those manufactures though.

My BLF Q8 lit up Titan quite well on a recent trip and it's good for nightime dog walks - slightly smaller than a drinks can.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
