Re the X12.
I think its impossible to improve this lamp, but I am looking at the battery side. A sealed rechargeable version would be good, but any design like that needs an isolator switch.
On the TGX this is done electronically, however my preference is mechanical switching as in the X16, not forgetting that whatever used has to be waterproof.
Also I need to avoid any price increases on the run of the mill lamps. This X16 is the most expensive yet, but in truth, a lot of work goes into them and I question the economic viability anyway.

Just out of interest, what is the lumens etc of a carbide flame from say a Premier cap lamp ? As I remember it lit up quite a nice area, but probably not enough for a good pic
if eight out of ten cats all prefer Whiskas
Do the other two prefer Lesley Judd ?

I haven't a clue, and would be difficult to test. Testing can only be done with an "Integrating Sphere" and being a naked flame would present practical difficulties. The sphere is only as good as its calibration as well, opinion on this will vary.

I am announcing a new battery for the Scorpion X12, this replaces the previous square plastic box design.

The new one weights typically 240 -250 grams and is of a better appearance.
Its actually a 4 cell thin aluminium with plastic insert design, the area normally occupied by the 4th cell holds the cable gland and management electronics. No increase in price.

The lamp itself cannot be improved, possibly the best all rounder I produce.

Yes, same cells, just a different case. Obviously flatter than the old as well.

Service announcement

I am currently experiencing Internet outages some of which last for days. I also have no telephone thanks to TalkTalk level or service. The latter does not really affect lamps service as all business is done by email, but please be patient in these times. All mail will be replied to when able, I usually reply to emails within 30 minutes. That is the normal service level.
