hi all, is there any mine projects around mid wales commencing soon? would love to join a dig to see some new stuff- theres 2 of us hardworking youngsters:lol:- anyone know if the upper level at bacheiddon was dug in the end?

The upper level at Bacheiddon was reopened but just lead to a fall. The landowner does not mind people going to the mine but does not like anyone just wondering around. This is my understanding of it.

Visiting the deep adit is no problem as its right by the track.

There is one in mid Wales that could be interesting and that is the upper adit at Esgairlle. SN 791829
It is the highest adit just below the A44 and was reopened by Simon Hughes in the 1970s. It was run again when I first visited it in the early 1990s. It was a crosscut to the lode where thee was a winze with a pump rod. A deep adit lower down is well and truly run but could possibly be reached by SRT from the upper one.
If you fancy a go I can soon be there with my Dewalt and some ropes.

There is another deep adit with stone arching, again run, but I think this only reached the rubbish filled shaft adjascent to the minor road.

yes very interested roy, looking at any projects to join this year- if u need any help with your projects give myself or s. tanner a shout and we should be able to sort it out- --shame the upper lead nowhere, by the size of the spoils rolling down the mountain/hill I would of expected something lenghy- got the mine at the source to do 1st on my list- its nany melin mine- old level on os map, theres a ladder leading up to the upper level, and a flooded im quesing winze or stope which we will be using a dingey too cross 🙂

hellooooo, the upper level at bachieddion we havnt been back to as we are waiting on a digger , this is part of work on going by david james and myself as is the opening of a few other adits in the immediate area, i have a few projects this year that you are more than welcome to help with, i just need to organise them, ill fb u both when im a bit more sorted but the projects are local and should be worthwhile, hows the black rope , mice have eaten my big rope;(

Ah Mr B yes we are ready and willing to help this year, the un explored awaits us! Glad to hear the upper still needs digging, I thought it may be bigger level.. let's us no when your going, I'd say msg me personally on Feb as Scott hasn't always got the internet 😉
