Have a look on the Adit Now database:

https://www.aditnow.co.uk/Database/

For Herefordshire you want map SO but I suspect you would have more choice heading into Mid/North Wales.

For old maps have a look at the NLS website.

https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=8&lat=53.7615&lon=-1.7074&layers=6&b=1

25 inch being the most detailed and 6 inch less so but covers more area.

Most mines in UK with open access tend to be in more remote areas, if near to populated areas they tend to be sealed up or gated. Aditnow is one of the top sites though for searching for mines in a particular area. The UK has quite a rich variety of mines for different materiels, from metal ores to building stone, limestone for agriculture, slate mines, coal and oil shale mines and other stuff like fireclay and gypsum as well as sand mines.

Malc.
Rusted and ropey, Dog eared old copy
Vintage and classic or just plain Jurassic
All words to describe me.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
