I 'second guess' a visitor will be using a minimum of 800 X 600 and size my tables to that, throw in a nice piccie as a background and away we go.

Nail on the head was what was said about a simple presence, anything above that and its a non starter. Its not a problem for my lamp sales as I invite email contact to check stock and availability.

The boon to me isn't the website, its the MS Access system that I run the sales on. "To do" lists on the desktop etc. An issue is that you cant program Outlook, but you can open MS Exchange in Access and email direct from the app.
Its full of Win API possibilities.

It's hard to beat notepad for a static page or three. That said, I threw our current page together using the hostings web based design thing, and just left it. It's just a pointer to email - nothing more.

Notepad++ is the mutt's nuts for poking around at code, especially if you've got the formatting/validation plugins for whatever language you're working in installed though the default bracket matcher is a godsend when working with JSON and XML!
