Some may have spotted a new site that went live a few days ago.

The purpose of the site is to provide news for the UK caving and mine exploring community. Those putting it together are all doing it in their own time and it is not a commercial venture. I have offered to focus on getting the mine exploring side of things publicised, so that's why I am here now. Where it could be of greatest value is when individuals or societies who have information, events, news, that is of direct interest to others elsewhere, get their news or whatever directly out to a national readership. So the site is not only a place where "big" stories are posted, but also the things that are important to us.

For example, changes to popular sites which you look after locally, but which are well-known, and it is important to keep people informed - risks, access issues, new fixtures - that sort of thing. It could also serve to be a good place to promote the Calendar, or anything of interest to a wider audience.

Perhaps you have organised an event and would like it promoted with some words and a link, and a photo.

There is a "contact us" page where you can contact the site admin direct, or if you prefer you can simply make me aware of anything you would like to appear there and I will sort it out.

And, of course, there is always AditNow to spread news as well, just like happens now.

The new site is meant to reach both cavers and mine explorers and everything in between. 🙂

People set up web sites for their hobbies because they enjoy what they do. Good luck to them in the running of the site.

Caving and mine exploring are well served by many established and excellent clubs, many Facebook groups, and existing forums such as UK Caving and AN. This new site seems to fill a niche for news.

I've removed all the rest of this thread. Please :flowers: don't PM me to accuse me of censoring discussion or being heavy handed...

AditNow is a forum for discussing mine exploration, mining history, IA, etc., and for sharing documents and photographs.

But, as the welcome email to new members reads, "I hope you find the site a useful and friendly resource"....

Let's keep it useful and friendly.

I like to keep the site on topic and I'd rather see 1 good post with mine exploration relevant news than 50 posts discussing who is behind another web site.

The success of AN is down to you good folk, who have contributed to it; and continue to contribute - whether it's discussion, information or photographs.

And, of course, the going underground bit - which is what this is all about.
