Hi Jim

Great pic but I think this pic is actually of Kilton Mine, mainly by the presence of the distinctive 1915 concrete electric winder house, it could do with uploading here instead! :)

Keep them coming though!

Cheers

While on the topic of correcting pictures - have a look at Jim's picture in the Historic Rosedale West album of 'Rosedale Chimney Intact 1972' then compare it with other pictures of Rosedale Chimney - it's not the same.

Could be Cobscar Mill flue chimney, perhaps.

Definitely a picture of Kilton Mine above; taken late 1970s or thereabouts. Excellent shot before vandalism and decay ruined the place.

And a Happy New Year too!!

Yes, I'll have it - what is it?

I'm feeling guilt-ridden.

It's a feeble excuse but I only had my dad's annotations to go from, in some ways it re-inforces rufenig's comments about photo info. I have a few more from Boulby Alum quarry, they seem to be during some archaeological dig, but I think they date from early 1970's and the only note I have found is in a paper by Ken Chapman relating to a dig in the 1960's. I'll put them up but any comments more than welcome. And 3 or 4 from Spawood again I'm reliant on existing annotations.

Its really not a problem, they are all great photos, just post whatever you have and it can easily be corrected by the locals.

I would imagine simonrail will be able to sort out any of the Boubly Alum Quarry dig queries as its his Dad (Keith rather than Ken)

Yes, compare to this shot, the holes are identical.
I've moved that to the correct album too.

Ta,

I'll be getting neurotic about names at this rate.

Now I know which mine it is it also fits nicely with OS mapping's aerial view as well. Again if Rosedale's wrongly ascribed please shift to the right place, though come what may trying to cycle down the road was a bit scary, the joy of being 16 and silly, strange what things stay in your head after only some 50 years.

I'll put the others up probably tomorrow, young collie's hungry after his rampaging round Slaley and needs his scoff.
