Sorry for the late reply. The first thing we did was to go down to see if the bridge was still standing, it looked to be unchanged and i don't think that the tensioner was removed from there. Looking at the condition of it i would definitely say that it was removed from inside the quarry and not carried up from the dressing mill area.
All the other 'must see's' are where they should be.

It's a relief to know the bridge is unchanged.
Why on earth anybody would go to the effort of hauling a worthless piece of rusty iron up the shaft is beyond me.
Maybe there's an increasing argument for making access to places as difficult and uncomfortable as possible - I don't mean causing damage, I mean not leaving bolt hangers or any fixed aids, and not digging places out but leaving them full of neck deep muddy water :devil:
