Me and friend decided to go and look for the mines at Slipton. We had an old map from 1920 which showed the location of them. We was amazed how quick we came across them. The first one we found was Crops acre then Willowclose. After a study of the map we then arrived at Woodfield and then later we arrived at Church north. Not being experienced in these we decided that we would have a quick look in all of them but not venture too far inside. Armed with only hard hats and torches we ventured in. We were amazed at condition of the mines considering how long they have been closed for. We so wanted to explore further but having no experience of mines or a air meter thats where the adventure stopped. We so want to explore further but really what we need is a experienced guide that would not mind showing us around and to point us in the right direction. I appreciate this is a big ask but we have found this fascinating and would so like to learn more.
If there is anybody that is willing to give up a little time then that would be a fantastic experience for us. We live in Thrapston and we are level headed people and appreciate the dangers of the mines and are not just looking for a high we generally have a interest in this.
Thanks in advance
